bully, i agree! i returned the tasco...a sleazy pile-o-plastic (backed by a warranty worth more than the scope).
i'm not a big fan of burris. if this were rifle glass, leupold gold would have been on top. but for the use and peurpose this spotting scope will see. i think the burris strikes a chord as a more durable unit. |

Have You actually tried one somewhere before ordering?
I've been following Your other thread since I'm also looking to buy a spotting scope. I would appreciate Your thoughts on the quality of the scope and optics when it arrives. Thanks |

princeton, no, i haven't even looked thru a burris yet. i am going by referrals from 4 firearms boards plus independant product reviews i've read.
i was actually impressed with the view thru the $49 tasco. my optical and magnification goals were more than met by it. the quality/durability was the only issue i had with the tasco...i just did not think it would hold up. i'll post a review on the construction and optic quality when the burris arrives. |

I just sent a Burris Landmark back to Natchez. I agree, that it seems like a great scope for the price ($138), especially since the only gunshop around to sell them does so at $264! It does have long eye relief at 15X, and it's clear, but when I zoomed it up the picture became somewhat blurry. I also sent a money order to Jarhead for a KOWA 501 (50mm) with a fixed 20X, for $163. I would have gone for something like the TSN-1(77mm) but it seemed too big for carrying in the field. I'm not sure how long it takes to get here, but I'll let you all know how it compares to the Burris when it does.

wsmac. i hope you got a "lemon"!
even the $49 tasco was sharp as a tack at 45x. the eye relief was nothing to write home about, though. i almost went for the kowa 15-45x...if the burris is a p.o.s., i still might! lol! i'll let you guys know how well or poorly mine sights. |
