I love the Leupold Vari-X II 3-9 that I put on my MT6731.  It's mounted low and I don't even see a shadow of the front sight.  I'm very impressed with this scope for 50+ yard shooting.  For the quality, the price seems reasonable.

although a shorty has a pretty good effective range for a 16" barrel.

It does reduce the selection (otherwise the scopes mount too high and you will need a built up cheek rest).

Good scopes to consider:
Compact ACOG: (available in 1.5x to 3x and a variety of reticules).

Colt Scope: (not the cheap Leapers Copy, but a REAL 3x 20mm Colt scope).

There is also the full-size ACOG, but they sit too high for my tastes.

Quoted:
Colt 4x with bullet drop compensator designed to mount on the carry handle.

Use your GD eyes. The sights work great. You CAN shoot that thing as far as you can see with open sights. Hell, I'll sell you the one I wasted my 80 bucks on. Simmons 2.5x-10x, I'll keep the arms mount. Also the scope sits to high and the light rifle is so hard to hold steady.

Buy the gook one first, its alot cheaper than spending 2 & some bills for the colt and then you find out you dont like it. The dink model works good if you put gaff tape or electical tape to give it a snug fit in the carry handle.

I got a bsa catseye 3-10x40 on a A.R.M.S A2 SCOPE MOUNT (the one with the little "hand-tightened" round nut), and i can take it on and off when i want and its allways zeroed. the height doesn't bother me, the scope has some long eye relief.
