Am going to Vegas this weekend and want to know if anyone knows of any good AR15 Friendly Gunshops to go to.

Am interested in looking at the different AR's, accessories, etc

Also, anyone know of good places to shoot in the desert around Vegas and what the reulations/laws are concerning shooting in the Nevada desert?

thanks

I went to Vegas last month.Checked out a few gun shops.Went to Machine gun kellys.small palce with lost of MG and black rifles.no range.
Went to the gunstore.shot the schmieiser and sten and swedish K.What blast.Bring lots of money cause ammo goes fast on full auto!!! Also went to a place on spring mountian road.shot the Uzi.don't understand why people make a big deal about it,I prefer the swedish K.don't hit the surplus shops, they were expensive and selection was not good. Have a great time.i wished i live in a class 3 state.

Front Sight's free subgun class would top my list of things to do in Las Vegas.  Unfortunately, I didn't see one offered this weekend.

Discount Firearms on Boulder Highway.  Rentals too.

Bills Buy and Sell on Fremont not far from the downtown casinos.

In Henderson, Center Mass Firearms on Boulder Highway.  They have an HK21 I keep drooling over.

Lots of good stores here in Vegas unfortunately not very many AR's for sale.  Accessories no problem but as far as complete new AR's - forget about it.  The stores mentioned so far are all good, one addition is Nevada Pistol Academy on Blue Diamond.  Machine Gun Kellys on Sunset (next to the airport) has about the best selection overall right now.

As far as shooting goes there are several indoor ranges that all rent (Nevada Pistol, The Gun Store, Discount Firearms and American Shooters Supply).  When you get here just look in the phone book under "Guns" for numbers and directions.  As far as the desert goes you can no longer just go out anywhere and shoot (thanks to the BLM).  There is an outdoor range in Boulder City that has a free public range - no rangemaster, bring what you want, usually only one or two other people there - everyone is always totally professional.  Check out www.brpc1.org or stop in at CenterMass Firearms for directions.

You are coming out one week too early - on Dec. 1st and 2nd we have a gun show AND Front Sight is offering their free subgun class.  I will be at both!!

Either way - enjoy your stay here in Vegas and don't forget to gamble, it keeps my taxes low!

I am going to guess this is at Cashman Field.  It is worth going if you happen to already be in town, other than that . . . Best thing is Miwall is usually there and they are good for decent cheap ammo.

If you have a choice, save your money and go to Crossroads of the West/SAR in Phoenix the week after that.

That's right, the gun show next weekend is just the regular Claude Hall show at Cashman Field - probably not worth travelling to town for.  But hey, like you mentioned, some people just want another reason to come here.  Besides what a great weekend - hit the gun show on Saturday morning, spend the afternoon/evening on the strip in the casinos and spend Sunday at Front Sight shooting Uzi's for free !!! Now that is probably worth coming to Vegas for....Then go to Phoenix the following week!

. . . and if you are going to follow Mike's advice, be sure to rob a bank in the intervening week.  Guaranteed you'll be short on cash!

The Gun Store on Tropicana does indeed have some full auto weapons for rental. I was in Vegas in October and rented their 9mm AR. I had never had the opportunity to shoot a full auto weapon before. It was sorta a let down. They put the weapon up to your shoulder, load it and ask you to shoot short bursts. You don't get to otherwise handle the weapon and even insert the magazine. I can understand why they do it that way but it still takes the fun out of it.
