Hi guys I found a Finnish m91 for sale locally that has had a pin put in the wrist of the stock. It looks well done, the seller says it's feels solid as can be. When I asked if the seller has shot the rifle he immediately came back with something like "no of course not the wrist has a pin it."

Me personally I don't think it's a problem. I think if Finland took the time to repair it instead of replacing the stock it's probably okay. There's plenty of rifles milsurp or not that have had wrist repair done on them.

It's a 1940 with a 3 digit serial number. Matching bolt barrel and reciever. 1901 Tula reciever. Seller is asking ~$500. I'm wanting a shooter I can take outside and SHOOT. So not a wall hanger. Do you guys think based off this picture the rifle is unsafe to shoot because of the wrist pin?

cross posted in the C&R forum also.

From what we can see, it looks sound enough in the wrist but I think he wants too much.  More like $350.

10-12 years ago I was very into Mosin-Nagants as this was the period they were quite priceworthy. I learned from the 7.62x54r.net website and elsewhere that the Finns were quite good at repairing all stock parts and redesigning some stocks completely. Several of mine (I was partial to Finns) had very nice repairs with at least one with a dowel through the wrist area. Unless there's obviously loose wood and it's mechanically sound, fire away. The two photos are of a 91-30 Tikka I once owned that had a very nice (typical) finger splice.
