The Mossberg is a great gun.  I'd skip the Taurus.

My first was a pt145 pro that the recoil spring broke after 400rds and it just happened to break during my chl class. My 2nd Taurus was a 24/7 9mm that wouldn't go through a mag without either a ftf or fte.

+1 on the Mossberg.  Double extractors, ambi safety, pretty well put together, not much to not like for the price.  I've got a rack of them and none of them are dogs.  Some have full metal trigger guards and some are plastic, but I've never broken any of them nor had to send any of them in for service.

According to Taurus' website that gun is discontinued; not a good sign.  For that price you could get a Glock or an XD.

I have had my 590 for close to 13 years, never has failed me. It is tough, well built and handles very well.

Exact same experience here.  The red cannot be understated.

I have owned a few Taurus', only one I kept was the 7 shot Tracker 4" .357 magnum. Never cared at all for their autos.

Huh.  There's a lot of Taurus bashing in here, so I'm going to be the voice of dissent that all Taurus pistols are junk.

I have an older Taurus PT-99 (PT-92 with adjustable sights; copy of the M9) and a Taurus 608 (.357 Mag revolver with 6.5" barrel & 8 round cylinder) and both have been reliable.  I've run a couple thousand rounds through the PT-99 and a couple hundred rounds through the 608, and I've been nothing but 100% satisfied.  I even have a Ceiner .22 kit for my PT-99 and it works really well with full power ammo.

Now, I can't speak to any of their newer models, though.  But I'm 100% satisfied with my two.

The non polymer semi autos and their revolvers seem to be decent guns but their polymer framed guns are just downright garbage,

Ive got at least 1000rnds down the pipe of my PT145, been flawless never had an issue with it. I dont shoot it much because i really have grown to hate the DAO triggers.
