Whats the oldest firearm you own ?
First year production 1906 Winchester in .22 Short only. (I think.)
1899 Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55mm Stupid accurate rifle. This round should be in more platforms.
98/22 Czech Mauser. Date of manufacture sometime after 1922.
Still slopped in primordial gun ooze and shoots great. |
The oldest rifle that I own & shoot is a 1880 Remington Rolling Block #1 in .22LR (,22s were black powder then..).
The second oldest is a 1882 built (model 1878), JP Lower Sharps Borchardt that was one of the last to leave the factory. Although the rifle was 95% new condition, it is currently sporting a Green Mountain .45-90 barrel and will compete in the National Creedmoor Championship in Raton, NM in July...... this rifle will often hold about a foot at 1000 yards with iron sights.. Pretty amazing what a 130 year old rifle with black powder & a cast lead 560 grain bullet will do! |
1816 Springfield that was converted to percussion and issued to my G.Grandfather during the Civil War.
S&W 1917 .45 ACP Revolver
It had the barrel shorted to 4" and nickel plated I paid $150 for it - If nothing else its a back up |
Colt 1850 something pistol that I got for my dad back when I was a wee little kid.
Trapdoor springfield that my great-grandpa bought after the spanish american war (Quartermasters didn't get the Krags). |
My uncles' Model 1912 Winchester 20 gauge pump. Made in 1918. Killed in Action at Iwo Jima - May god rest his soul.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." –– Theodore Roosevelt, May 07, 1918 |
Model 1888 Commission Rifle, built in 1890. This is the oldest one I can reliably date.
Not sure of the manufacturer dates, but I have:
1891 Argentine Mauser U.S. Model of 1917 '96 model Swedish Mauser 1916 Spanish Mauser and a few other old war horses . . . The oldest non-military firearm I have would be a Marlin Levermatic (Western Auto actually) from the late 1950s. |
Iver Johnson .410 shotty that was a hand-me-down to my dad in 1938... I'm not sure when it was made, but I love that old thing!
Colt 1878 Damascus double, 12 ga- this one was left to my father and I.
Steyr 95/34 Coversion. Original manufacture date is somewhere between 1895-1918 but was obliterated during the rebarrel in the 1930s. |
I don't even know what you would call it - it is so old the stamping on the barrel is unreadable. Its a breach-loading .22 rifle.
LeFevre and sons side by side 12 g 1908 followed by a 1931 manufacture cz27
Winchrster Model 92 made in 1910 Octogon Barrel n stuff Thinkin bout sellin it to buy more black rifle toys
Quoted: My Mosin Nagant 91/30. It's an ex-dragoon made in 1928. My 91/30 as well, but its a 1935 round receiver. |
Winchester 1897 made in 1897. My old man picked it up at an auction for $50.
a 1903 M95 Astro-Hungarian straight pull rifle
2nd oldest is either my 1939 91/30 or my Remington 41-P which IIRC was made around then |
Fucntioning? My father's 16-gauge pump from when he was a youth, 50+ years old. As for non-functioning, I have an old lever-action buffalo gun. I've been told it was the *second* lever-action introduced, the sharps beat it out.
My oldest are an 1900 Swede M/96, an 1896 Mosin, and a 1909 Mauser Broomhandle. I've got an old .22 from my great grandfather that dates back to the late 1800's as well.
My Remington 1889 damascus 12 gauge is one that I still shoot alot that is old
I have an old smith and an old Colt that are not shootable yet, and I have no idea on their age |
Not as old as most of yours, but a 1942 Long Branch Arsenal Lee Enfield No. 4 MK I , and a J.C. Higgins Model 586 12 Gauge shotgun made in 1956.
