Does Anybody know if there is any AP rounds legally available for this gun. I can't remember the exact bullet size I think its a 7.62MM*57R.

7.62x54R most all surplus were all steel cored.

Yes, it would be legal.  The AP that is illegal is on an acutal list.  Oddly enough .30-06 AP is legal, but 7.62NATO is not.  Alot of surplus stuff is steel core.  Unless you really do the research on the net to find out just what the headstamp and colored bullet markings mean, you can't be sure what surplus ammo really is.  It could be anything from heavy MG AP, to special sniper rounds.  Warsaw Pact didn't use a standard marking system either, so a black tip may or may not be AP.  Countries used the same markings for different types of rounds.  So you need to know what you're looking at to figure out what it is.  Just search on the various websites for Soviet guns and you'll find the codes.
