please tell me weather this is a good rifle or not. And if not tell me what other rifle I can get at wal-mart for under $250 in 22mag. thanks

Get the Savage for about $170. I don't really care for the micro groove rifling.

isn't the savage(which ever one your talking about) a 22lr not a 22 magnum? and also I have looked at both the 22mag and the 17hmr and I like the 22 better because the impact has greater force. I still haven't told what I'm using this rifle for so I'm telling you now, I am mainly using it for general mes around with purposes like shooting up milk jugs and stuff, I don't really intend to do any hunting(except for the occasional ground squirrel).

I bought a wood stocked sporter 22mag Savage at a Pawn/Gun shop for $169 new. In GA you have to use a rimfire for hunting yotes and hogs on WMA's during small game seasons. The 17 HMR doesn't cut the mustard for anything bigger than about 10lbs max.

I'm using the Remington 33gr Vmax ammo.

125 yds. The 17 is just a real fast pellet gun. 17gr bullet is a joke if you need any penetration . I would rather use my 223 or 6.8 but since the DNR adopts the 'guilty until proven innocent' stance on WMA's I will carry my 22 mag and limit my shots to preferrably under 75 yds for yotes and only shoot 50 lb or less hogs.

Yeah thanks guy's but nobody has really told me anything about the rifle that I have chosen. Now I have already told you what I'm using it for do help me out a little here instead of bitching at each other.

Dad has a Marlin 882ss. The trigger is HORRID. From looking for trigger job info for him, it sounds like they all use the same trigger. Aside from the trigger, he loves it.

The only trigger job info I found was to replace the trigger spring with the spring from a Pentel Mechanical pencil. Or buy a drop in Rifle Basix trigger for $80.
