Cant decide. I want a carbine though. Think they'll make one in 460 S&W? Then you could shoot 45LC, 454 Casull and 460 in the same rifle...

45-70...

The 450 Marlin is everything the 45-70 is, but with a belt on the case so it can't be chambered in an older 45-70 that can't handle the pressures.

The 45-70 gives you a little more range of ammo to use, and isn't really locked into a manufacturers pursuit of the round.

Ruger has them, Marlin does, etc.....

+1  you can get hot hunting loads for the .45-70, they cannot be fired in older, weaker guns.  Plinking ammo is cheaper for the .45-70.  I was getting 20 rounds of PMC for $10 to $12 a box.

FWIW: lowest price I've found for off the shelf .45/70 is about $1/round  ( I had sticker shock when I first started shopping for it!)

.45-70. Roll your own. Mild or spicey.

That has come down a bit with coyboy loadings, but if you don't live in an area where those games are popular, it's strictly a mail order proposition.

The upside is that .45-70 loads real easy.
