Have you guys heard about Remingtons Company Spartan ? They have a new SxS double rifle coming out at the end of the year . 30-06 and 45-70 .  Retail will be 550-590 BUCKS . Made in Russia I believe . It looks pretty good and has a regulating system one barrel is fixed one is ajustable via a camming "thing" .

i'd seriously look at buying one.   i have always liked the doubles.  not too long ago i was dreaming about a .500 noitro express that a local shop had with a bunch of accessories for $ 5000.  a 30-06 for 1/10 the price is real temtping!

i got to ask why?  the 45-70 is SAAMI Compliant Loads Only (28,000 PSI
and 30-06?  i can't get excited about either of those two choices.
a stoked 45-70, .450 Marlin or even a new .500 round  would be a good choice.

I'm betting that rifle in .45-70 pack some serious recoil

That's a good question ! I had a Kodiak 45-70 , It said the same thing , BUT in reality It could be loaded up . Im sure it's a liability thing w/ Saami . But if it's avalible in 30-06.........

So that should be about $450 at Big 5 here (they already carry Spartan shotguns)---excellent!

Suggested retail was 589 or something like that . FWIW "the guy" said they were concerned with people "loading up" the 45-70 . I tried to corner him about " if its chambered for 30-06 why cant it be loaded up ? It came down to the fact that saami pressure for 45-70 is 27-28 K PSI , as a rifle company they can not "recomend" loading it hot for Libility reasons .

If they say $589 MSRP, it will be discounted to about $450---the shotguns had a similar MSRP when they were announced. I would deffinately be wanting it in 30-06.
ETA: can't waite to handle one!
