Ruger redesigned the Mini-14 after the 180 series. They are a different animal.
There's some minor differences like barrel twist rate between the later series but at least they can use the same aftermarket parts. The Ranch series uses integral scope mounts and a modified ejector. Dennis Jenkins

I've got a 180 series, and it has a few differences that I can see. The left side of the receiver is different, I believe the bolt hold-open mechanism is of a different design. The top handguard is wooden and resembles the Garand's.
