I don't know about anyone else but my Norinco .223 AK is a damn fine weapon. I haven't shot more than six magazines of .223 thru my AR's in over six years since I bought my Colt 9mm carbine. For casual plinking I enjoy the AR but if I was going to get dropped off somewhere and have to depend on the rifle, no matter the weather, I'd have to lean towards my Norinco.

I dont own a 223 AK, but I like the way mine (7.62x39) holds and works for me better. I do still like my AR also.

I had a Norinco 84. Nice gun but had a bad habit of doubling. Since then I not thrilled about 223 Ak`s.
Get an AR instead. But if you have to get an AK in a different caliber get something in 5.45x39. |

The floating firing pin in some models combined with softer commercial primers will cause that to happen. My Polytech will double and triple on occasion. I could get the kit to refit the firing pin but why?

That is a very dangerous condition........ the gun could possibly fire out of battery. You have a FCG problem, I'd suspect the disconnector. |

I have an 84s and AR's, I'd take the AR just because it has much better sights.

To get the twist rate for heavy bullets, you need an AR bbl. Fast twist AKs do not seem to exist.

Side note....Arsenals .223 AK is a 1/7 barrel....Thanks for all the opinions.

Usually doubling in the AK type trigger group is related to disconnector fitting, its spring tension, operator finger pressure on trigger, and, of course, proper ammo. I've seen some, especally Mac 90s, where the hammer could skip thru in transfering from the disconnector to the hammer sear. Hope this helps.
