A friend is looking for a 9mm pistol, so I thought I'd enlist your help. These are his options, which would you choose?

Used SIG P226 with 1 Hi Cap Mag,$399.00
(excellent condition)

New Springfield XD in 9mm, $450.00

New CZ75BD, $309.00

Three great choices and he can't go wrong with any of them. At the $400.00 price for the 226 I'd probably pick that one. My second choice would be the XD and the CZ third. But not one of them is markedly better than either of the others. Get him to hold and if possible shoot the three since they really are totally different feeling and functioning guns.

I also thought the SIG would be his best choice, but he seems set on the XD, which does point well and seems to have good reviews. Plus I've read that you can get 15 rds of 9mm in the .40 cal XD mags which also fit in the XD 9mm. This seems a plus point for the XD. I bought my SIG P225 from this same shop for $394 with 3 mags and LOVE the pistol!

Well, keep the poll going, and I'll send him a link so he can see for him self what you guys have to say!

Thanks so far!

SIG, hands down.

Reliable, accurate, highest quality.

He will likely love the XD. It is very SiGlike in feel and function. In fact, IMHO it is the polymer pistol that SiG should have brought out.

I did notice the slide resembled the SIG alot. We didn't strip the pistol down to take a closer look, but it even appeared that the XD uses the same barrel lock-up design as SIG uses.
Gotta love that accessory rail too!

Well I don't want to get it "sold out" from under him, but if he decides other wise I'll let you know.

There are two shops in the Denver metro area that, on occasion, advertise used SIG's in the paper.

Love my XD-40 so much that I plan on trading my Ruger P90 (.45 ACP) in on a XD45 when they come out next year.

Sig 226 with 1 high cap for $399? WOW!

The cheapest I have seen one sell for in the last couple months is $499 (with no high caps).

Don't wait another minute! Buy the 226!

If your friend doesn't, you should!
