As best as I can dope out from glocktalk glock is recalling certain E series pistols as the frame rails fail in some way and cause the slide to come loose.

Don't know if this is accurate

"Here is the official Serial Number range for Glocks that are affected with the Receiver recall. The range is ELD -- EVB. If you have a Glock that falls in this range call Glock and they will give you the necessary information required to have your receiver replaced.

Sheriff's Broken Guns To Be Fixed

The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department's handgun problems will be solved by the end of next week, an official said Friday.
The force won't be getting 230 new Glock handguns, which the county had requested of the Austrian company after several of the department's weapons broke. But a Glock executive said the company will provide new gun frames.
The force has said those are at the heart of the problem.
Assistant County Attorney Jeff Landers, who dealt with Glock, said the parts fix is "arguably fulfilling their warranty obligation. I don't know if you can expect much more than that."
Glock is the gun of choice for many law agencies across the country. The company's chief operating officer, Paul Jannuzzo, said Friday that Glock has imported 30,000 to 35,000 new frames, and they're available to any agency that wants them.
"They will have their new frames by the end of next week," Jannuzzo said of Bernalillo County.
The sheriff's department earlier this week scrambled to inspect all of its Glocks after two weapons broke in the same manner. Neither occurrence involved life-threatening situations. It also discovered two more broken guns during that inspection.
Sheriff Joe Bowdich signed a special order allowing deputies to
temporarily carry their personal handguns. The force also borrowed from Albuquerque police some Glocks that apparently were unaffected by the problem.
On some newer versions of the gun, two pieces of steel in the frame of the weapon were improperly machined, said Deputy Robert Ray, an armorer who runs the sheriff's department shooting range. Those pieces may be prone to breaking under the stress of repeated firing. If the pieces do break, an affected gun may fire only one shot before malfunctioning.
Ray said several other agencies have contacted him wanting to know more about the problem.
Jannuzzo on Friday confirmed the steel pieces in the frame on some
Glocks have "a little bit too sharp of an angle, and it had the potential for becoming brittle." However, he said the failure rate is only one in 25,000.
"It seems like they had a little bit of a concentration, (of
breakages)," Jannuzzo said of the broken guns at the sheriff's department.
Jannuzzo said he believes the new frames will come complete with all their internal parts, including trigger mechanisms.
Ray on Friday took apart a Glock and reassembled it, as he and other department armorers will have to do once the new frames come in. It took him exactly nine seconds to complete the work.
"I think (we) can get it done in two days," Ray said of the parts
replacement process for the entire arsenal.
"New frames will more than fix the problem," he said.

An interesting side note and somewhat on topic, when I called Glock Smyrna customer service this AM and asked about the imported dates of 2 glocks, a G17 EDH### and a G23 DRX### I was told by "Tony" that he could only tell me was that both were imported in July 99 or later, he did not have any later import serial number data. This seems very suspect to me, but I didn't question him further. Things that make 'ya go Hmmm.

You can call Glock at 866/225-4098. Although I'm not thrilled to hear about this I've seen plenty of metal guns fail over the years and yet to have seen a Glock break so I don't think I'll be running out to by a Colt tonight

Charging_Handle-. I just copied that stuff off of Glocktalk. I think any Glock from ELD to whatever the end of the run would be EZZ? could be effected. That list by model number may only be of reported recalls. Just because your pistol is not on it does not mean that it might not be effected. I'd call Glock and find out what's up-though there are now reports on Glocktalk that Glock is tellling some people to not bother sending their frame in if they aren't leos and it hasn't broken. In any event it sounds like any frame sent in could be gone for awhile (months?).
