I don't know the approx value. Winchester sold their tooling to the Italians after WWII. They were used by the, and excuse the oxymoron, "Itlaian Armed Forces". They made M-1's that were as good as ours. They were made under the Breda and Beretta name's. Some were .30-06 some were 7.62 NATO. What's this one?

Yes! It's true. My buddy that owns a cigar shop said he had one too. I didn't believe him until I saw it with my own eyes. It's a beauty too.
From what I understand, Beretta made a few M1's way back when. I also understand that the gun is an outstanding shooter. My buddy won't sell me his. If you can buy that Beretta, scoop it up before it's gone. Not too many of those were made from what I understand. |

From what I seen of it, it appeared to be somewhat original. Unfortunetly, I didn't have my reading glasses with me at the time. BUT,
The stock appeared to be refinished. There was what looked like a S/N (burnt) in the stock, but did not match receiver S/N. On the operating rod, I think the date 1955 was stamped into it? Maybe, I can get another look at it and take my glasses with me?

Sure did. Beretta M1s have a very good rep as to workmanship and finish. Depending on condition, a Beretta M1 ought to fetch a higher, perhaps considerably higher price than, say, an equivalent late-model Springfield. If I were offered the opportunity to buy even a mostly original Beretta M1 in decent condition, I'd definitely go for it. YMMV. |

I think that the designers of the M-14 incorporated some re-designs (bolt roller, op system) that could have been changed in the M1 without radically altering the overall design. Wouldn't surprise me if some of the prototypes Garand was working on had these features. I also think that while Garand apparently had some influence in the M-14's designing, he was not consulted often enough. However, since the designers of the M-14 were under the imperative to reduce overall weight, and since the new cartridge allowed this, a complete re-design was justified. But you are essentially right, LarryG. |

I'm not much of an afficionado on the Beretta's M1's.
They are of Italian origin, usually modified to accept a detachable mag, and command a very high price. That's about all I know, and others already told you all that.  |

Ekie, schweeetttt, rifle you got there.
The one I seen was nowhere near that. The asking price for the one I saw was $800 Think I will pass on it at that price, since the CMP Danish guns are $420 |

True Beretta "BM-59" marked M1 garands are are EXTREMELY rare.
There were only 200 commercially imported into the states. by spring field armory back around 1985-86 If that suckers a true BM-59 garand its worth around $900+ in 80% condition. On the clip fed version their fun toys. I purchased my standard italian BM-59 about 6 years ago for 1500.00. It has the most beautiful tiger striped walnut stock you've ever seen. The folder linked below is usualy refered to as a sporter because it lacks the tri-compensator. A combination grenade launcher,flash supressor and muzzle break rolled into one that all 59's come with. purchasing additional magazines will bankrupt. ya They run anywhere from 75-100 dollars a pop. ill post a pic of my BM-59 when i get a chance. |

I seen them in Canada go $199 at SIR last year. I think they all went south. I wish I had gotten one. There are around $399 now in Canada.

Thanks AR308and223, hope to have it done soon, will be selling it for about $850 with a like new barrel and new wood. Waiting on the op rod at the moment.
BTW Beretta made about 100,000 M1 Garands, and some 10,000 went to Denmark. |
