I didn't feel like taking the scope mount off, so I didn't put on the handguard (but it''s there).

I like the camouflage !
Is there a web site that would offer a way to print out the pattern that I could use to paint the stock on a rifle? And possibly the instructions for preparation of the synthetic stock, and applying the paint. Thanks. |

Why do you have to torture me like that? Huh? You sick sadistic ba**ard! That just put me over the top... now I'm going to have to go buy and M1A and put an Aimpoint on it!
Who made the suppressor? I'm thinking of putting a bi-lock on an M1A and using a Gemtech TPR-S suppressor. |

Warning! If you own an M1A and start painting your own camo stocks it will become an addictive hobby.
How to do it. Buy the cheapest USGI synthetic stocks you can get. I usually get them for $12.00 from Freds. Fill in the selector cutout and and deep flaws with JB Weld. Paint the entire stock, including the mag well and "inside" with a couple base coats of Krylon "military" paint. I use OD or Tan for the base coat. Either free hand or with stencils apply your Camo pattern. I usually work lightest to darkest and use about 4 colors per pattern. I do better freehand than with stencils. Apply 2 or 3 coats of a MATTE clearcoat to protect the pattern. I recemtly completed a stock for my M1A scout in the USGI 3-Color Desert pattern. |

Did it with masking tape, scissors and camo-common sense. Shaded the areas with the idea of a light source (i.e.: make blobs, put dark spots on one side of the blobs).
The fact that it's made up of little squares makes it easy. |

Very nice job. Good use of an Olive back ground with Tan & Black blotches. What I would have done different is used Dark Brown with Black edge highlights where you have Black Blotches. That would more closely duplicate USGI Woodland. Consider painting a Magazine to match too. I usually insert the mag in the magwell during the painting process to get a perfect match, just cover the feedlips with some tape first. PS.. Did you clear coat it? |
