[ARCHIVED THREAD] - i need some help on what this gun is

i don't have a pic but it is made in korea and uses ar-15 mags and it was there "version" of the ar-15/m-16 i think something like "daiwoo" (sp.??) a gunshop near me has one for sale for $549

what exactly is it.

Parts are hard to find...but they are GREAT!!

Oh its the top one.

Actually Korea used to make ARs of their own but they wanted an improved rifle for their forces.

It uses a AK type piston sytem with a AR type trigger group and rotating bolt. It also has an adjustable gas reg like an FN and a GREAT folding stock.

Its the best parts of the three best assault/battle rifles. IMHO

I am in Canada so I do not know US pricing but I think that its a good price.

Is it just like mine with a folding stock??

If wo then I think it might be a GREAT price.

Are you sure???

The alternates were a thumbhole and a collapsing one.

Mine is a side folder...you push down on the stock and it flips to the side.

Stock...

you can see the fold hinge

K1 with collapsing stock.

If it has the same stock as the top one, and not a thumbhole type, it is probably preban. In which case it is WELL worth the money.

My store sold them brand new for $550 back in 96, so yes, $550 is a good price if you want a piece of shit.

No offense Storm, but I've had over half of these returned to our store. We gave extended warranties, which most people used. Malfunctions, breakages and some sight problems make Daewoo my least favorite company. They make EVERYTHING, name a product, they make 3 of em! (TV's, cars, toasters...)

it's got the thumb hole stock but it's in .223/ 5.56 and uses ar mags

No offense Balzak....I have a K2 and it is SWEET..

I have heard of quality problems with the DR200 but nothing but praise on the K2 series.

Had a K2 for several years, and loved it. Had to sell it during some hard economic times. Hated to, and wish I had it back.

The only thing I didn't like about the piece is the front handguard, which is slippery and grooved terribly for a secure grip.

Figured out how to convert an M261 .22 conversion unit to work in the K2, and it was more accurate than in the AR15 I'd bought it for.

All in all a fine rifle.
