I remember when I refused to trade a Viet Nam bring-back SKS for a Colt SP1, because back then SKS's were worth 3 AR's.

Stupid!

Trust me, man, if I could go back in time I would have one of each. I graduated high school in 1986. I only made 1/5 of the money then that I do now, but the prices were lower as well.

Yea, that's the funny thing, I remember thinking "damn, almost $700 bucks for an AR", so I always had Norinco AK's (two) for $325 each.

and to think i spent 4 years in the US Army ('87-'91) and pissed away approx. $25,000 and didn't even buy an AR-15. if i'd only knew then what i know now, i'd be sitting on a truckload of the damn things.

Thenthere are those of us that actually bought rifles in the early 1980's at the cheap prices (didn't seem cheap then!) and later sold them.
Talk about STUPID! I don't often sell rifles any more.

I bought my first new Colt SP1 for $390.00 in 82. Wish I still had it!

My first AR was a Match HBAR.  Traded a Single Six .32 Magnum (mint) + $300 for it.
I paid many times over to get them back....

hindsight is "appreciating her fine hindquarters".
