Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Mini 14 serial numbers

A friend of mine is thinking about getting a preban Mini 14 (I know its not an AR15 but thats what he wants right now).I need to know what the serial numbers are to make sure that its a pre ban. Also the gun we are looking at has the Stainless Gov.Barrel (Ruger Flash Hider and Bayo lug) but no folding stock. If it is a preban(wont buy it if its not) and he later decides that he wants a folder can he put it on the gun?
