No not the TV show. I'm still breaking in my new Bushmaster M4 and am following the guidelines on the Maryland site (300-500 rds before cleaning the barrel). So far I've ran 200 rds of American Eagle 55gr JHP BT through it. I fire no faster than 1 rd every 5 seconds and yet white smoke billows out of the top handguard. Is this normal for a new rifle or will it always burn that way? Is it due to the chrome lined barrel or the ammo? My understanding is that AE is pretty common. I DID clean the barrel before firing it the 1st time per the instruction manual.

The smoke is just oil burning off the barrel, nothing to worry about.
