I have a few Magpul items that are FDE and foliage that instead of buying new or trying to trade I would like to make black. What's the cheapest/least involved way that will hold up? Rit dye?

Yeah, rit dye. It’s cheap, quick and permanent.

Don’t use spray paint. Rit dye is cheaper and you won’t be able to tell the difference between factory black magpul components and Rit dyed magpul components.

Aren't there 2 types of Rit dye, which one do I need?

Rit Dye

Boil some water. Put in pan deep enough to cover parts. Add dye (I just poured in a bunch. It's $3 a bottle at Hobby Lobby with coupon) and stir. Add parts. Let sit for a while. Take out and wash off. Black parts are yours. Can't tell the difference from the rest of the Magpul stuff that is black.

Since fde and fg are discontinued, maybe trade them for black ones?
