One thing to consider is the eye (view) difference between the green and white phosphor. Also, if you got the dual tube set used, you don't really know how it was cared for. Despite the statements of "NODs are so expensive" (and they are), people often do some really stupid stuff with them that can harm the tube. Staring at white walls OCD'ing about pepper specks will blasting their IR illuminator, stuff like that. |

Degradation is a direct result of the type of use and how (ETA: how much of it). The typical number that is touted (10k hours) is a conservative number. L3 unfilmed will last a very long time. They are also physically tougher than filmed tubes due to no film. Comically, there are folks in the industry who have been and still are telling people that L3 unfilmed only last 500 hours, lol. You could check the lenses. It's possible they are not the same origin/quality. You may also be seeing some light artifact differences (not the actual halo) related to the difference between WP vs GP. |
