Hello all,
Just wanted to drop a note about the some current issues with some tubes getting shipped from ITT. Currently, we had to send just about 20 ITT Gen-3 tubes back due to the units resolution at approx. 57LP and the photo response at 1200-1300!
These were stand alone tubes (10160's) for the MUM, D-740 and D-760's. While the signal to noise has been good, the other two factors were totally unacceptable for us anyway. I have been hearing ITT is "unloading" a good many of these 50ish LP tubes to the market but did not know for sure until we received some! Please be aware of this fact. I know for some very new folks it may be hard to distinguish how a 57LP or low a photo response may look, but to the seasoned folks, it's VERY easy to spot these low LP/PR tubes. Most good dealers should not be selling these units unless the low performance aspects are advertised up front. Everyone usually advertises a current Gen 3 unit at 64LP (minimum) even though the S/N and PR can vary.
As most know, there is a good shortage of tubes as of late, and this does not help matters. Thanks all,
P.S. While I am at the Shot Show, you can be assured I am going to ask some DIRECT questions regarding this. I got into this business to HELP folks, not to let them get derailed! I learned the hard way in the mid-90's as I've mentioned many times in the past.
