Hypothetical: you’re submitting like 4 or 5 forms for approval. This would equate to about 8-10 FD-258 fingerprint cards that need made. Tedious indeed... and if you’re somewhere where you’ve got to pay $10-$20 to a card fingerprinted then it could add up to a lot of money too. Sometimes, it’s not convenient to drive somewhere to find an electronic kiosk either.

Is it possible to manually make one set of prints and then, with some formatting and printer magic, have a printer run off 1:1 photocopies of the original form directly into actual blank FD-258 cards?

Would the ATF even be able to notice (given that your printer was of fine enough resolution)?

There are quite a few members here that have digital scans of their prints and simply print new forms whoever they need them. I've yet to try it, but they seem to have success. Take that for what it's worth.

There's a fairly recent thread in this subforum somewhere with the details. Not sure if it's archived yet or not.

For the purpose of doing future form 4s, wouldn’t the prints still need to be from the past year (like the photo)?

If so, wouldn’t you need the fingerprint tech’s date and signature updated on forms you scanned more than a year ago?
