Local guy is offering his excellent condition Yugo M48 for my excellent condition hex receiver Tula 91/30. I’m hesitating because mine has a really nice bore, smooth action, and smooth trigger for a mosin. Never even shot it yet so it still has the original import tag on. I usually just shoot my other Mosin, an Izhvesk hex receiver or my Finnish M39. I also already own a K98. Should I make the trade? Do you guys think both Mosins and Yugo M48s will continue to increase in price?

I'd make that trade. And yes, all the milsurps will only continue to go up in price.

In my AO M48s are hard movers.....M91/30 refurbs are selling at $399.00 at a steady clip.

Hell one LGS has a nice Yugo K98 refurb for under $400.00 and it's been sitting for a month or better. They have M48s for around the same price that have been sitting for months.

Call it a wash price-wise.

I agree with 1sRelic. They are about the same value but the Mauser is a slow seller and harder to move. I would not make the trade for that reason alone.  Mosins have much better ammo availability

Agreed with the above. Value-wise, I think they're close, but the M48 really doesn't have the history that the Mosin-Nagant does.

I wouldn't make the trade, because I'd rather have the MN you describe than the M48.

I WOULD trade the Yugo for the MN, however. I like my M48A, it's a nice rifle. It just doesn't "speak" to me, though.

Not really... A lot of milsurps are starting to stagnate and I've even seen some come down in price a bit. Most people got into milsurps because of cheap surplus ammo. Now that most of the surplus ammo in odd ball (by American standards) is all but gone we're starting to see people, who were never really into these guns for the guns or history, try and offload them.

Interesting. Mosin Nagants don't seem to be moving around here. An LGS in my area has had a few 91/30s, one or two 91/59s and M44s at $299-349 for a couple of months now.

Do they ship?  I'll buy those 91/59's in a heartbeat.  They're rare as shit.

Yeah, that's a deal for a 91/59.

I would keep the Mosin based on history.

The Yugo just is a well made k98 with a limited history.

Then again I don’t own a Mosin and have several German K98s.

Closest I have is a Sako M39.

They are pretty different than a k98. Side by side they it’s more apparent

Right.  M48s are not K98ks.  They're intermediate length Mauser 98 actions in a similar overall configuration to a K98k.

Some smaller parts are interchangeable, but the larger parts (receivers, barrels, bolts, stocks, handguards, trigger housings, etc.) are different.

(M48 on top, K98k on bottom)

In true arfcom fashion, he needs all of them.

Excuse my mess in the pics, getting ready to move.

I think a normal refurb mosin and a clean m48 milled fun will stay flat around $400 ish

M48 meh.  I’d keep the Mosin.

There are far less M48s than 91/30s. In this case it comes down to the rifle. Some 91/30s are dogs and can’t hit the broad side of a barn even if they look nice. Most M48s were unused and shoot well.

It would depend on the receiver tang date for me.
I got a 1938 dated barrel shank Tula hex with a 1919 tang date.
They aren't very common because of the revolution.
