I think I'm turning Japanese . My new Type 38 and Nambu I really think so . Can anyone tell me why and the meaning of the Drill cartouche on the Type 38 ? your help is always appreciated .

I still do not have any of the Japanese weapons in my collection yet.

The cartouche on the stock consists of 3 kanji symbols that literally translate to "training use".  The symbol on the receiver is the Japanese Imperial Seal. The 3 kanji symbols below mean "Type 38".

thanks for the kind replies . I did have a concern about shooting this rifle from hearing all the stories about training rifles having smooth bores and not being able to hold pressure from shooting live rounds . Took it out to the range and it shoots like most of the other military bolt rifles I have shot . This rifle has a minimal recoil and likes a six o'clock hold . It does have rifling in the barrel but does not have chrome barrel , maybe why its cartouched on the stock ?
