I have this post-ban Bushmaster AR:

Rifle Specifications MSRP

Base Rifle Bushmaster XM15-E2S A3 16 in. Carbine                     1085.00
Front Sight GG&G Tactical Modular Flip Up Front                                            195.00
Rear Sight ARMS #40                         95.00
Rail System ARMS SIR45-M 429.95
Pistol Grip Hogue AR15/M16 Rubber Grip                        16.00
Foregrip Knights Armament   45.00

The AIMPOINT will not be part of the trade. I'm keeping that for my RRA Entry Tactical.

I'm wanting to trade it for an H&R M1 Garand 1955 with all original parts. This thing is priced at $1400.00 (reduced to $1000.00) and an IBM M1 Carbine that is priced at $700.00.

I think the guy will go for it. He has expressed interest in the rifle before. I really haven't expected to get more than $1000.00 for this due to the AWB configuration but I'm going to give it a shot.

I am tempted to trade just for the M1 Garand.

Well if it was me and I wanted the 2 rifles(and I do so trade or I will fly their and buy them) I would do the deal. But see if you can get clips, mags and ammo thrown end, does not hurt to ask.

If you are able to get both then I would definitely do it.

Your gundealer is playing you somehow.... Heay if he does the deal fine, but expect the old switcharoo.

I have done the gun trading thing before, gun shops will only give you a fraction of what your rifle is really worth. Try to sell your rifle first and then go back with cash to buy the M1 Garand/Carbine.

Well, the deal did not go through. It failed for two reasons:

1. He decided he would only offer $1000.00 for the AR

2. I was double checking manufacturer marks on parts in the trigger housing of the M1 Garand. When I was putting the trigger housing back in, it was being stubborn and wasn't seating correctly in the receiver. The gunsmith working on site, takes the rifle and taps the butt of the stock on the floor in an attempt to get everything to settle into place. As a result, a 2 inch crack appeared in the stock.

I couldn't believe he just did that!!!

That for me ended the possibility of any deal. So, I guess it will be off to gunbroker.com to post the AR for sale. Once it is sold, I will order either a correct grade or collector grade M1 Garand from CMP.

Hell, for $1000, you could drive to the CMP and pick out your own Garand.
