Always thought the rifle looked cool and this month in Amer Rifleman the article really made me want one.  How much are they?

~$400 for a decent one in 8mm.  Price climbs fast from there in other calibers.

Great shooting rifle.

Where the hell can you get an FN-49 for $400.00??

I have been looking and I can rarely find one for sale and when I do they are usually asking like $600.00 plus.

I have a Venezuelan FN49 that I bought decades ago.

It's a great rifle, and shoots well too .

Check out this recent thread:

FN49

And, if you can find any FN49 in decent shape for $400, give me a call...

The local market must be lower in price here.

I wish NJ would allow gun shows. I might find an FN49 for $400. All the auction sites have 8mm Egyptian contract rifles or CAI rebuilds for $600+.

I want one a lot but I can't spare the cash to overpay by 300 dollars.

By the way, although there's a link in my link above to Wayne Johnson's new book on the FN49, here it is directly:

FN49

This is, by far, the best book out on the FN49.  What's known about the production of the FN49, for all the different contracts, is here...

Forrest

(No, I don't get any kickbacks from the sale of the book.  Yes, I did buy a copy).

Hi. I reciently acquired a FFL03 C & R and always wanted to purchase a FN-49.

Does anyone own one in 30.06?

I believe that there is a Luxenbourg, Belgian, and perhaps some South American variants in that caliber.

I am curious of accuracy, trigger pull, and/or any personal pros and cons that you may have experienced.

Also are most of these rifles covered in a Black lacquer originally?
