had a proof stamp with an N or a Z inside a square? I have an old mauser action that I am trying to identify. Any info would help out.

positive. It is a square. I have found two of these proofs, one is on the follower, and the other is on the mag. floor plate. Could these be aftermarket pieces? I know that the receiver and bolt are pieced together due to different #'s. Not a great pic, but gives ya an idea what I have.
