Hey guys, I am looking for some budget glass for a Savage MKII FV-SR in .22LR, something that has at least 4-12x variable power and costing around $125. Currently I am eye-balling the Mueller APT Tactical 4.5-14x40mm and the Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 4-12x40mm. Anyone have any recommendations before I pull the trigger on one of these?

I use a cabela's 4x12 40mm scope on my Savage 22mag.  Not as crisp as my nikon buckmasters, but very clear.

I have a Mueller APT on my Savage MKII, it's a nice scope for the money.

I have a Vortex (low end) that exactly met your specs i my savage when I got it. shot well, tracked well enough. I replaced it because I got a stupid good deal on a Trijicon 3-9 and wanted to match my game rifle reticle.

Another vote for Meuller, i think they’re great on rimfires, not sure how they’d stand up to recoil though.

I've got two Prostaff and one P-22 rimfire scopes, all in different magnifications, and they have all performed extremely well.  It's become the only rimfire optic brand I buy anymore.  That's not to say the others aren't good, I just don't have any experience with the others you mentioned.  I'm also a fan of the Nikon Spot-On BDC system/app so that's a plus for the Nikon in my book.

I ended up going with the Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 4-12x40mm. I got it on Amazon for $125 and it arrived the other day. Just in comparison to what I had in the past, a BSA Sweet 22, I am very, very happy with it. Plus the SpotOn app IS pretty awesome. Just a little icing on the cake. Thanks for your input everyone
