The cantilever mount is intended to mount to the barrel, but keep the scope over the receiver. I suppose you could push it forward, or mount it backward. But if you are going to go through the trouble of making holes in the barrel, this might be a better route:

It would be extra kewl if it incorporated an adjustable sight at the rear of the unit. This would give you a BUIS and it would increase the sight radius.
