I am taking several tactical classes this summer and need some help as I'm rather new to this.

I initially looked at a basic Tactical Tailor setup.  However, after looking at this I decided to look at a plate carrier as I most likely will look to get Ceramic/Steel plates down the line.

I began looking at the CIRAS and really don't understand why I would need that.  I probably will never use this stuff in a combat environment so I want to be rather minimalistic, yet I want enough to get the job done.

I am pretty set on going with a plate carrier for now.  Can you guys give me some good ideas?  I know Eagle & Tag are pretty solid, but is there a specific vest model that you would recommend?

Also, would you look into the CIRAS in my situation?

Sounds like a Wasatch with a few pistol mags & a GP pouch would suit you well.

what he said. or the XL eagle plate carrier w/ cummerbund. but then your going to have to buy pouches as well.

The SKD Eagle Chest rig seems to satisfy all of your requirements except for the med pouch, but it has molle so you could add that.

Not to hijack but what size Eagle w/ cummerbund would you recommend to someone 6'2" 185 lbs?  Would XL be too big?

You want a plate carrier and all that jazz, but when you start to look at weight and heat retention it might not be the best thing for your first Rifle Class..
I'm not saying don't get one.. Just that K.I.S.S. is probably the best bet for your first time..
Unless of course, they require armor.. Then get the Plate Carrier and Tell me to FOAD..

I actually am not going to get plates for quite a while.  However, I want to invest in something that gives me the capability of using armor if I would like and train on a PC platform to get more comfortable with the setup.

Actually, you are totally right.  I should go by the one that you've pictured secondly. Can you give me some information on the setup if you know what it is? I'm really looking to do the exact same thing with the exception of 3 double-mag pouches in the front, 2-3 pistol mag holders, and a small utility pouch.

I would also look at the Woosatch (which is very similar, but is MOLLE instead of fixed mag pouches).

If you are looking to put your own shingle mag pouches on it, Contact Gene by phone or Email and ask for an ALL MOLLE version of the "Popper".
It should save some monies but still give you the use of the Dumper/ShotShell Poppers...

Seems like a pretty cheap starter solution that will get me where I want.  I also have the ability to toss 4 pistol mag pouches on there which will get me where I need to be.

The nice thing about that, is that you don't need to add pistol mag pouches, its got 4 already.

The Eagle SKD Universal is a GREAT chest rig.  I've added a rolly poly to mine, and the thumb break strap for the right most mag pouch, which I use as a holster for my secondary.  Now I'm just trying to figure out the best way to add a hydration bladder.

Just got mine two days ago and love it.  Quality is great, price is better, great starter rig, and still can expand a little.  Cannot be beat.
