So I took my old 870 express magnum and decided that the 26" vent rib and ATI folding stock and 10 round tube just had to go. It was entirely too large for a "truck gun" and weighed a metric ton. Also the length of pull was at least a full 14"

So I ordered a speedfeed IV-S pistol grip short stock and swat but plate bringing it to an advertised 12" LOP

I kept my surefire forend (who wouldnt) and changed to a wilson +2 extension

Traded my old vent rib for an 18" vent rib  and made everything nice and clean while I had it all apart.

Right now I am waiting on the stock and mag tube, but the rest os sitting here looking pretty mean

I'll post pics when I have it all back together.

Oh, and I fully plan to use a clamp for the extension tube, even if only so I dont get flamed =P

It's going to be a whole differnt weapon when you're done!  I have the SpeedFeed IV-S with SWAT butt plate on my 870.  I love this short LOP set up.

Is there a short non-pistol grip stock? Something that would be good for home defense but also work while shooting clays/trap shooting?

Did you cut your old barrel, or get a new one?

Speedfeed makes a 13" LOP stock, non pgrip stock. You can get it from CDNN with the forearm for $50 shipped.

What is the SWAT buttplate?

The IV-S is a 13" LOP pistol grip, but like you said im fairly sure they make a "standard" style 13" as well

The swat buttplate is just a plastic cap for the end of the stock rather than the rubber sissy pad

Its also 1" shorter than the stock cap so it reduces the LOP to 12"

The SGT mag extension is a freaking beast! And the Specter sling is the best use of $30 I've ever had on a gun, and it came with the sling mount that fits between the mag tube cap and barrel lug. I used the mount on the extension because it moved the sling farther away from the forend, my hand and the forend switches

I just took a tape to it and it comes in at just under 37"

Since I no longer have my AR (untill my new one comes in tuesday) I have nothing to compare it to...

once I do I will let yall know

AR may come up a bit shorter than normal since I dont extend the stock all the way due to gator arms =x
