I love looking at the uber tactical shotguns in the picture thread and it made me think where are the pictures of trap/skeet/sporting clays shotguns... and hunting shotguns? I know they are not as cool as the tricked out riot shotguns. But I hunt and shoot trap with 21" barrels and 8 shot shotguns. I can't be the only one.

Anyone else use their shotguns for hunting or sproting clays? Or does everyone own a shotgun for HD and three gun matches?

Mine too.

I've never shot skeet or hunted with any of mine.

I have 2 berettas, one in twenty gauge that I use for bird hunting, one in 12 gauge I use for deer hunting with buckshot, one 12 gauge mossberg with a rifled, ported slug barrel and scope for deer hunting, and a 16 gauge fox that my grandfather gave me when I was 6.  I shoot skeet with the two berettas, and the fox.  I don't have any stubby barreled tactical shotguns, but I would probably never use it anyways if I did.

I use my Remington 870 Ultramag to hunt Birds and Bunnies with the 26 inch Rem Choked vent rib bbl.

Then I swap on a 20" rifled sighted bbl for hunting Hogs Deer and Varmits (two legged and four legged types!)

One Gun CAN do it all (If it is a Remington 870 that is!!)

I use my Benelli M1 S90 tactical for skeet.  I get a lot of strange looks, but it proves all you need is an 18.5" barrel.  My 590 mariner has never been fired.  An old Winchester Defender does home defense duty and has been fired less than 100 times.

My Remington 870 was for restoration practice- got it for $105 and leanred how to refinish wood and metal (and replace a firing pin when I did somethign dumb).

Now it is mostly for the fun of blasting slugs out at the range.  One of these days I will get around to shooting some skeet and/or trap with it, but I have lots of other toys to keep me busy at the moment.  Plus at $0.40 a slug she is a might expensive to feed at times!

I shoot skeet, and more frequently birds, with mine. I also use them for defense, and occaisionally to shoot open a door.

I use my shotguns to shoot everything from trap and birds to blowing up old refridgerators and stuff.  The reason you dont see pics of hunting and trap guns is because most everyone knows what a bone stock 870, or plain jane Moss835/500 looks like.  Everyone and their dog has a hunting shotgun whether it be a Benelli, Remington, Mossy, or Winchester.  It would be like the difference of looking at a plain jane pickup or Jeep compared to bigfoot.  So while many people have a skeet/hunting gun there are not generally unique or tactical enough for these threads.

No flames inteded for anyones superduper trap or goose gun.

BTW UZI4you,, you're not the only one to hunt or shoot trap with a "riot" shogun.  I do it all the time.

I don't really know what I do with it other than shoot it. I don't even really know why I have it, other than it seems like everyone should have one. It holds 20 rounds and is fun as hell to shoot though.

I just like to hang mine in the window rack of my Caddilac Escalade, with 24" wheels, so people think I'm not gay.
Seriosly though, when I was a kid all we had was a shotgun, and all we did with it was blow shit up! We had an old car, a pin ball machine and all sorts of other shit, we dumped it all on a remote corner of our farm and my dad would take the whole family up there to take turns blowing shit up, so that's what I still do now, I've even cut a sheet a ply wood in half once. I got into clays for a short time while I was a member of a hunt club, I became very good, then got bored and quit.
