I've been on the lookout for a nice 4 1/2" adjustable sighted 422 for a while now.
This 6" fixed sight just kind of fell into my lap from a co-worker the other day, not really what I wanted, but I grabbed it for $250.
Figure I'll get the thread adapter and see how it shoots suppressed. It's picky as hell about ammo as it sits.
Any sources for an adjustable sight for one of these anymore?

Have you shot it yet?  I have two fixed sight six inch 622s. They both shoot exactly to point of aim, no adjustable sights needed.

I also have a pair of 4 inch 422s, also fixed sights. They both shoot high.

I've had adjustable sighted 622s and 2206s in the past. I prefer the fixed sight guns.

Yes, I've shot it some. It was shooting about 4" right, dead on for elevation at 20 yrds. I pushed the rear sight and got it just about in there now.
You are probably right about not needing an adjustable sight, it's just what I'm used to.

I had a six inch 422 with the Micro sights, but the younger daughter asked for it, so its gone. recently I found a four inch with fixed sights at a gun show, but it doesnt seem quite as accurate as the other.
neither gun has been picky at all about ammo.

I've had one for the last 27yrs. I've shot it so much the slide cracked a few years ago. I sent it back to smith and Wesson and they fixed it with one of the last two slides they had left. The slide was painted so it is a lil off from my blued gun. I added a threaded adapter about 3yrs ago and it's still ran everything just as it always has.

I had one exactly like yours back in the '90s. It was deadly accurate and shot anything I ran through it. Have you stripped it down good to clean and lube. How about the chamber, any peening from dry firing?

I did strip it down and clean it. Chamber looks OK, no sign of peening.
I've only tried CCI Mini Mags which it likes, Remington GBs which it tolerates and Federal bulk pack which make it a single-shot.
The jams all appear to be FTE related.

Mine is the most reliable semi 22 I have ever shot perhaps try some different magazines? I want to find one of those beretta 71's and see how many t compares as they are supposed to be the king of the hill
For 22 reliability

Mine seems to shoot everything both standard and high vel with total reliability only time it ever choked I traced it to a bent mag feed lip

I don't mean to sound like I'm bitching about it, I really like this pistol and I'll make it work.
I've wanted one for a long time and think I got a good deal on it, just don't have any experience with this model.
Thanks for all the replies.

I had 41/422 magazines on email notification at Midway. Recently got an email that said they were discontinued.

Still plenty of mags around with some searching - got two New in package at a gun show last year at 25 bucks each

I have 6 or 8 magazines, just hope they haven't actually been discontinued by S&W.

A few years ago mags for the 422 were going for like 40-50 each for used. Then midway got a run of new mags for 19.99 and grabbed some. OP change your mag spring,  check and  be sure it the right mag for that gun. In 27yrs I think I can remember one fail to feed after shooting like 1500rds of bulk that day.

S&W still makes the 41. I cant imagine the mags are discontinued.

Originals were ten round then for a few brief years made 12 round ( just prior to the awb) when that sunset they never went back to making 12's. I have four tens and one 12, and I still only load 10 as the couple of rare malfunctions I have had with the pistol were with the 12 rounder on the first or second round fired when loaded to 12.

The S&W 41 is pretty popular.   The 41 & 422 share mags.   I can't imagine mags for these being discontinued.

S&W no longer supports these models with parts. Firing pins, etc. are no long made nor inventoried. The story on these models is the firing pins break after a period of use. A gun with no firing pin is nothing but a paperweight. I would assume a machinist could make a firing pin?

I went with their 22A-1 model when I got mine. Better made, plenty of parts made, etc. Mine is the Target model with the bull bbl. Thing shoots almost as well as my Model 41 does.

They are nice 22's very reliable, I have a adjustable sight 6" 422 and just picked up a like new in box 6" 2206 for $300.

New production 41 mags work just fine in them.

Not a S&W snob I own plenty of other 22 Target pistols.

S&W 422/622/2206 are just such a better gun than new production 22a's or Victory.

Jury is still out on the Victory, IMO.

OTOH, I'll take the bet on the 22A-1 series. Mine is literally perfect & was under $300 retail.

I agree about the 422/622 being superior to the current crop of S&W 22 autos (except the 41).

I've had my 622 since they first came out. I have shot a ton of rounds through it. It started malfunctioning a couple of years ago. After buying the recoil spring from Midway and replaced it, the gun stopped malfunctioning.

Any guidance on where to find a thread adapter for a 2206?

Agree completely.  Our club had three of the stainless model.  I emphasize HAD.  Fussy and prone to parts breakage.  The take down piece broke on all three of ours and it took years to find replacements.  We hated the things.

I also have a 22A and couldn't be happier with it.  Our club has a Victory model and so far so good.
