I just bought that yesterday and wondered the same thing.  Their website doesn't say anything pistols at all.

I've handled them. They seemed pretty well put together for the money. But I don't know the quality of the internal parts.

They didn't really state a price in SGN. What were they going for?

I like DS products.  Usually very good quality.  I can't overlook the piss poor checkering on a $1100 gun.  The author of the article seems VERY infatuated with it however, not a very subjective article.
The bushing is ill-fit as well.  If you look close you can see it's not flush with the slide.  EIther poor part, or poor fitting.  Again, no-go in that price range.

If I can find them, I'll buy some of their frames for builds though.  If they are cheap enough of course.

I saw them at a show being sold by DS for $550-600. Should have bought one but couldn't afford it at the time.

Not an $1100 gun but a screaming deal at $550.

They were being sold directly by doublestar. I think the railed version was more like 700-800. I can't remember. It was at the SAR show last november, I think they wanted to get their name out there.

Had I known they would retail for than much I would have definitely bought one.

I saw them at a show being sold by DS for $550-600.

This was likely their first, basic model on a cast frame. The current model is on a forged frame and presumably of better parts and workmanship.

That would sound like a reasonable explanation...but have they changed that much in 4-5 months? This was an "introductory price" and it was last November.
