Realistically, my budget is pretty similar to yours. Less, actually, since I'm a college student, and don't really *have* any disposable income.
I'm an impulse buyer, especially when it comes to firearms. When I went in to pick up my USP (Horror! Plastic gun mentioned in the 1911 forum!) a year ago, I walked out with an AR, a bunch of gear, and a preorder for a PS90. I stopped into the
Gun Gallery to say Hi as I was moving down to Orlando, I ended up with a Remington 700 in my truck somehow.
Knowing all this, I figure that if I go shopping for a $500-800 1911, I'll end up with $2000+ custom. So I figure just split the difference.
Now, if Capitol One would stop extending my credit line, I wouldn't have this problem...
