when shooting my 1911 do i rest my right hand thumb on the safety or just below it.

ya thats what i thought because i can manage the recoil better for follow up shots but i start to get a little scuff on web of my thumb after a awhile. does this happen to you guys?

You can slightly bevel the back of the safety right where the edge rubs your web.  Go to a gun store and check out the other 1911's and you can feel how some rub and some don't.
