I went to the local GS the other day to buy an Ultra CDP (3" barrel) .  They were out of stock and while poking around I happened to notice a 3" Eclipse right next to it.  The Eclipse uses a stainless frame where all the other 3" kimbers use aluminum.  The few aluminum framed Kimbers all seemed to have detectable play between the slide and the frame, the steel framed Eclipse had none.

Questions:

Should I care?
Should I expect all steel frame kimbers to have the good fit and all aluminum framed to be sloppy?

Go steel. Aluminum is for BBQing.
