Was this on a Glock 19c that came ported from the factory or some other aftermarket job? The porting on the 19c is on top of the barrel with two cuts out of the slide near the front sight, it does not seem like the frame could be damaged by that?
A deputy I know who shoots in competitions fell in love with a compensated 40 that someone let him use, he said it was much quicker on follow up shots.
With the C Glocks there is the flash and hot metal shavings coming out of the ports, but unless you are wrestling around with someone, or otherwise have the gun close to your body, I don't think that's a big deal. I would think that you would have a dramatically brighter muzzle flash and will REALLY be blinded if you ever have to fire the gun in the dark.
