Which do you guys reccomend and why?

I have already owned 2 CZ's. The first one was awsome in every way, the second was accurate and cycled well but the trigger would 'lock up', after firing one shot the trigger would not budge, I would have to cycle the slide to reset the trigger. Has anyone else had any problems or was this a rare thing (just my luck).

I have owned 8 G19's and 3 G17's. The G17's have been great, no problems at all, however my last G19 caused me to abandon Glock for over two years. It was probably one of the bad NYPD lot #'s. It would FTF 3-5rnds of every 100rnds.

Give me you comparisons on reliablity, durablity and so on.

What will the purpose of the gun be?

Damn what luck. How did you get two jam-a-matics. I never have any problems with my Glock or CZ.

No more Glocks for me...I'm waiting on my 3rd CZ now.

Yar,

It will serve as a general purpose self defense and plinking gun. It will see CCW duty only during the winter, I will use a .38 snub/ankle holster for summer carry. So I want a full size auto, and it will also serve as camp/hiking protection. My biggest concerns are reliability, longevity and accuracy.

I have been suprised with how many people on the web are choosing the CZ over the Glock and would myself pefer an all steel pistol if it will equal or surpass the G17.

I has 2 Glocks a 23 and a 27.  The trigger sucked from day 1 0n both and never got better.
What about the cost of HiCap glock mags?  try<30 for hi caps for the CZ's.

If you want a CZ of any type go to Gunbroker.com and do a cz search.   The guy 80Ton or Ton80 is absolutely honest and 100.00 cheaper the the gunshops here in NoVA. I'm waiting for a cz-83 in 9mm Mak for my wife.

Well for general self protection and plinking just about any pistol will do.

For camping and hiking, I would go with the Glock 17. Though depending on where you camp or hike, I might want a .44 or Glock 20 instead. Both the CZ and Glock would be fine, but the glock with it looser tolerences would function even if dropped in mud etc

Personally I'm a glock guy so for my purposes it's glock for everything. There is not much they are not well suited for.

Makarov's, CZ's and Glocks will all eat anything you'd care to feed them.  Glock's just never gave me the same sense of security as the other 2...YMMV

I must chime in for CZ75B.  How can you not defend  their reliability, accuracy and dependability. I have owned or have shot almost every type of handgun on the market.... CZ's are at the top of my list.

The CZ is nice but heavy to carry all day.

I won't be buying any more Glocks.  I would suggest looking into the XD service model.  I have two XDs now and will be buying more.

Try either the CZ-75 BD Compact or the 01.  There are 13 round LEO Mags out their and 10 rounders for us mortals, and it weights w/o ammo in the 25 oz range.  Funny it also fit my Sparks SSII for my Ex Glock 27 with some stretching.

BLADETECH claims it'll make a holster for the Compact...DON'T Believe them, their's is much longer then necessary.

CZ75B or decocker with 20rd. U.S.A d/free steel mag is my absolute choice!

I finally saw the CZ75 P01 on the shelf at my gun shop. I don't remember looking at the price tag but I'm thinking it was in the mid-400's.  I really like the looks of it, but unfortunately I just can't imagine when I would ever shoot it.

Does anyone know if it will accept the full size CZ75 mags?

Yup, it accepts the Full size mags. they will stickout on the bottom.  The 01 (like the Compacts) actually are built foe 12/13 rounders.  They're pretty rare.  10/15 ROUNDERS sell for about 30 bucks.

They (the CZ75/85's) are pretty good investments if the dreaded AWB is renewed.  If we get lucky the CZ will still be damed good guns to shoot every day.  I carry a CZ-75B PCM or an EG Mak everyday.

My last two CZ-75's were noticably more accurate then either of the three Glocks that i have owned. G26, G19, G31

You can bend the mag brake or order an 85 combat plate for drop free mag usage.
