I just bought this today, Smith & Wesson .460 XVR
 Got everything in the pic, out the door for $1075 This is my Taurus Raging bull in .454 casull -  I also have two Freedom Arms revolvers - one in .454, and one in .475 Linebaugh still in the safe, I will take pics later when I feel like digging those out. |

How does the Raging Bull handle? I was considering one, but ended up going with the Ruger instead. I had a .44 Redhawk before the 454, the 454 frame seems to handle way better than the 44 I had before it. You can tell there is way more "BOOM" happening at the other end, but the Super Redhawk seems to suck up more. |

The raging bull is actually pretty good for recoil. The grip and the ported barrel help a lot with that. Quite loud though. |

Well, I did take the 460 shooting today, and wow, that thing is very impressive. The felt recoil on the hornady 460 rounds is not bad at all, my Taurus 454 kicks harder than that. The fireball the thing gets off is very impressive  We went shooting later in the evening, right before dusk, and it was very noticeable. It was at a shooting pit along side of the dump road in my town, and one guy actually stopped when I shot it, as he was driving by (40 yards away).As far as accuracy, from what i could tell in the informal shoot I did with it, it is superb. I was able to hit a Dr. Pepper can at about 50 yards with open sights, right away. I will have to take it somewhere else to get an idea on how I shoot it at longer ranges. Very impressed with that 460 XVR so far

Both of them are model 83, Premier grade. The 454 has a 10" barrel, and the 475 has a 7 1/2" barrel.
The 475 is a very nice piece, but I hardly shoot it at all, because of ammo availability. I handload for it, I just havent gotten around to getting any quantity of brass for it yet. Definately packs more punch than the 454. |

I inherited both of them from my grandfather, when he passed away almost two years ago. If I recall, he paid a bit under $2,000 for the 475, and I dont know how much he paid for the 454. The recoil on the 475 is pretty impressive, but is a little different than the 454. It has more of a heavier push than the 454. Actually, when shooting offhand, the freedom arms 454 hurts the hands more than the 475 does. 440 grain bullets out of a revolver is pretty impressive though

That SBH with the full length ejection rod is just screaming cut the barrel to 6.5" dovetail the barrel lug and reinstall the front sight. BTW very nice gun.

you gotta love that RB in 454 shiney SS.I HAVE THE BLUE VERSION.i think it manages recoil better than the SRH I HAVE IN 480.

The biggest revolver I have is the .41 Mag., in the photo. I've thought about getting something else, but lately have been suffering from the early stages of BRD and saving money for ammo, and other things until my SEBR gets here!!
