I am toying with the idea of getting some sort of .22LR auto pistol.Something fun to shoot with high cap mags.Nothing super pricey.I have a few H&K USPs and would like something that I can take to the range, kill time with, yet not spend much $$ on ammo.

Anyone have anything they would recomend?

I vote Ruger 22/45.  I know they have bad politics but they make the best 22lr's.

I know of 4 gun shops that have many new  MK ll's for sale. I'd rather have an old used MKll than a new MKlll any day.

I love both my MKII, and my Walther P-22.
The Walther just has a more "evil" look to it! (stupid statement I know )
The ruger is a little more reliable IMHO.

Wow that sucks.

Fred, look at the IMHO in my post.
It might be just my gun.
It feeds most of the rounds I put thru it, but sometimes does not like the Remingtons.
Go figure. BUt it is still a blast!
THere was a cop that was at my shop last week that brought his Walther with a can (and tax stamp)on the end. THAT WAS FUN!!!
I shot about 3 clips right outside my back door, with knowbody the wiser.
His jammed about every 3rd-4th round. Probably just the subsonic ammo though.
I just wish I had some pull with the CLEO around here to get my sign off.
Doug.

I'm not sure if you know this but the Walther P22 has an atrocious track record in the .22 pistol community.  It seems that the relability and durability is .....how shall I put it....crap?  I HAD one and unless you shot cci stingers it would not cycle .  Check rimfirecentral.com for more info on A LOT of dissatisfied walther p22 owners.  Like everything there are exceptions to the rule, and some people actually have rather nice P22's.  Although sadly it doesn't seem to be the majority.

I guess I got lucky with mine. It cycles everything I put through it, including subsonic ammo.
I have not had a single failure.
