My CM came in the tactical configuration with the compensator separate in the case.

My question is do I just screw the comp down tight so that it bottoms on the threads?

I have to really reef it down to get the flats to line up on the slide.  If I leave it one thread out, the lock-up cone is not engaged.

It seems mechanically insensitive to bind up the threads like that.  There should be a ledge or a crush washer or something...

yep, most new ones have a threaded interference fit. Certainly not my favorite solution, but it does work so I can't say it's necessarily "wrong", just not really enjoyable to take apart/put back together.

Tighten it all the way if you can, until its torqued and timed correctly. It’s not uncommon for open gun comps to come loose.

screw it down until it lines up with the slide....you may have a very tiny space

It will not come loose as the guide rod holds it in place

Thanks folks.

Pains me to do it, but it's done.
