You can swap in aftermarket barrels to run 9mm or 357Sig out of a 40 but their are no conversion kits on the market that I am aware of yet. Supposedly someone is working on a .22 kit but nothing has been produced.

Can one buy just the err.. "upper"
 from springfield (to go from a 40 service to a sig tactical) or do you need to just buy the whole gun?  Edit FYI: for what it is worth, just got off phone with a springfield rep. she said they don't seel slides seperatly and they don't suggest mounting the tactical slide to the frame from a service model. |
