I am thinking about purchasing a 45 pistol. I am interested in the m2 but with the depletion of the nations stock of handguns, I cant find one in person to determine size. I have smaller hands and compact and sub guns are the only guns I feel comfortable with.

The most similarly sized pistol I have is a Gen 5 Glock 19, so that's  where I am starting at.

Anyone own both that can give me a comparison?

The M&P45 is literally a 9mm sized handgun. It uses something like 70% of the same parts of the 9mm version.

The M&P 45 will be .1" thinner than the G19, .14" longer, and .46" taller.

Don't have a G19/17.  I do have a 2.0 .45 Compact and several compact CZs.  The 2.0 .45 is a loose fit in a P07 IWB holster.  A nice fit in a P01 IWB holster (I sometimes carry it in one of those as that particular holster does a good job of keeping the grip/frame off my side when driving the car/truck..)

And, my 2.0 .45 is more accurate than any of my 9MM or .40 S&W M&Ps.  Got lucky, I guess.  And the 14 round .45 magazines fit it just fine, even if they are a "bit" long when locked into the frame.

I don't have the 10+1 compact but do have the full size with the 4.6" barrel.  It's the same size as the G17 except for OAL, the M&P being ~1/4" longer.

Most of the time "compact" means smaller all around.  With the 2.0 .45 "compact" only means the barrel/slide is 1/4" shorter.  The rest is all the same.

it will be closer to a G17 than a G19...  A G17 is almost a compact when you compare it to old school 9mm like Beretta 92 and P226...

I have a Shield 45 with the only modification being an APEX trigger and Pearce pinkie extension.  Love it.  The one round factory extended mags are pretty compact too.   With the latter its 7 plus 1, for the reduction in thickness I think its a suitable trade off vs 10+1.

I've had an M&P 45 "midsize" for over 10 years now. The new 2.0 "compact" 10rd gun is the same size.

It's a bit closer to a Glock 45 in size. The overall height is kind of inbetween a Glock 17 and a 19. I've owned Glock 17s and 19s while owning this. It's basically the same size as the.
I wish mine was the 2.0 as it has great texture and trigger right out of the box.

I've had the M&P full size .45 in FDE (like the one above) and the grip size "feels" smaller to me than the Glock 19, 22 or 23 I have.

I was looking for a .45 compact a week ago and didn't have much luck finding one and wound up buying M&P's in 9mm and .40 and they definitely feel better in my hand than the Glock pistols.

A .45 C is still on my want list.

I am missing the middle part of my trigger finger along with a fused joint. I can manipulate the trigger of the M&P45 with no problems.

EtA on a G19 I cannot guarantee I can pull a Glock trigger out of the holster 100% of the time without adjustment of my grip.

I have the 4" barrel on a full size frame.

It's as easy to conceal as my G19.

If you have the Glock and it fits, the S&W will work also. I have several of each and like both. I prefer a Glock because that's what I've carried since the late 80s. I prefer the ergonomics on the Smith over the Glock. You won't be disappointed.
