Hi Guys,

I shot my G17 at 25 yards for the first time yesterday (I have had it for 1.5 years but I have been shooting my ARs a lot more and my 26) I was not shooting groups but after 40 bullets my MOA was around 16 inches with WWB. Should I practice more or is this close to the average MOA for unsuported shooting with a G17?

You need to practice more. Four inches is more like it.

16 MOA @ at 100 yards = what size group (Appx) at 25 yards?

If, on the other hand you are shooting 16 inch groups @ 25 yards, yeah, you need practice.

That's what I though the G26 has over 2k or 3k rounds and the trigger is smoother. The G17 only has about 500 to 600 and the trigger is not as crisp, I think I need to practice more and wait for the trigger to completely smoother out.

Or, you could do the intelligent thing and polish all the parts in the firing mechanism. I'd also go to a 3.5# aftermarket connector. I don't care to shoot Glocks with unpolished firing mechanisms, particularly when they utilize the factory 5.5# connnectors.

I'm not the best shot, with standard Winchester 115 ball, standing offhand firing 5 shots at the 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 was 4". This is with a standard 17, no mods which has 25k through it--so that answers another question, how long will my barrel last and still hold a group.

With my G19, I can put all rounds into a baseball sized group all day long.

WWB sometimes has accuracy issues with Glocks due to Glock rifling and WWB choice of jacketing materials in some of their older ammo. Check other posts for details, and especially on Glock.com. I would try some other good factory ammo before you make a final judgment.

I have Glocks that shoot 2" groups, and some that shoot 5" groups. Anything over 5" would cause me to contact Glock. Again, though, only after using known good ammo.

G17 with over 100,000 rounds out the pipe, and it still does 2 inches at 25 yards if I do my part..... same as when new.....

taking my time I can put a mag full of Alum Blazer in a 6" circle @ 20-25yrds out of my G17. If I had troubld doing so, I would assume the problem was me. For me, going from handgun, to long gun, to shotgun can sometimes give me issues. Lots of practice helps me.

This is a target from the Combat 300 course of fire (the same as most PD qualification courses), 40 rounds total for stages 2, 3 and 4. Shot with my Glock 17 using CCI Blazer 124s.

PS - I've had my carry license for 27 years, 25 of which I have shot competitively. James Dinan is who I received my NRA Pistol Instructor certification through.

I am just a sheep that doesn't want to be eaten.

You should be able to do better...mine will hit MO Windshield at 100yds with no ptoblem.

I was using some old WWB from my cousin that the bullet was the same color of the brass. I am going to go next week to the range with different types of ammo to prove that I either suck and need to lay my rifles down and focus on my pistol skills or ammo is to blame

The brass coloured WWB bullets are known to be not grouping well out of a stock Glock barrel.

Thanks, that makes me feel a little bit better. Hopefully I will be able to go to the range this weekend with various ammo.
