Re-finished slide with O.D. Green Gun-Kote.
Grip reduction with with full 360 stippling. Trigger guard rounded and stippled. Thanks for looking.............Gary |

Looks great. I want to do the same thing. Did you just spray it on without disassembling the slide? I realize you had to remove the slide from the frame, but did you have to completely disassemble the slide?

Yes, you have to detail strip the slide.The gun-kote is baked on @ 325 deg. for one hour.You also have to install a new firing pin channel liner. |

Where do I get a channel liner, and do I need any tools (I've never detail stripped one before, I'm not scared to, I just want to be sure that I have all the info before I have a bunch of parts and even more questions). BTW.......looks great......which is why I keep asking |

I feel dumb for asking this, but do you bake the slide in your oven at home? I have a feeling someone who uses my oven more often than I would would be pissed! Can you explain the procces a little for me, I am thinking about doing the OD on my CETME.

The coating is made by Gun-Kote.And yes it is baked on at 325 deg. for one hour.I would not recommend using your kitchen oven.

I use a heat-treating oven.Same oven that I use to heat-treat my knives.

Have you used Norrells before? I only ask because I was considering using it on my G17 slide, but I don't really want to have to detail strip it.

Detail stripping is not hard, except for the sights and firing pin channel liner. A lot of places will remove and replace those for a small fee, however. |
