you probably need new mags as the lips on the 40 are larger (I have heard they work in a pinch but 9mm glock mags are cheap)

are there 9mm mags that will fit the G27 model?
what about the firing pin/ etractor/etc, these will all work fine with a 9mm too? |

I am in the same boat and have found a good source for a threaded 9mm barrel for my G27. I was informed that the mag bodies of any glock 9mm, 40, .357 sig will fit in those size frames. Hence in all reality you could switch barrels and buy a 33 round 9mm mag and it should work. I say should. I have heard of reliability issues with replacement barrels.

I completely understand how a caliber change for the 40 s&w to 357 sig and vice versa is as simple as a drop in barrel because the case head/ breechface dimensions are identical between the 2 calibers---but I don't quite understand how you can convert with a drop in barrel when the case head dimensions are different between the 2 calibers. A 9mm is .394 across the base compared to .424 for 40 s&w/357 sig--thats a pretty substantial difference, and I find it hard to believe the extractor would interact with the cartridge rim the same for both or hold the case centered the same on the breechface (if in fact the breechface would even accept the opposite cartridge). I would think a slide change would also be needed.
If this in fact will work, I have definately learned something new for today. I have 2 Glock 9's and would love to hear more. |

I don't think you can go from .40 to 9mm...some internal dimensions are not the same. Call Glock or Glockmeister...I don't think you can do it but I've been wrong before...

Yes, you can convert a 40 to 9mm with the conversion barrel in your G27, just purchase the G26 magazines. On the rare occasion you might need to swap ejectors($5) but I have yet to do that in any of the conversions I've done. I have not used the KKM barrel do to the cost. The Federal & Lone Wolf barrels from Lone Wolf are less expensive and function flawlessly so you can spend more on ammo

That is because the "GLOCK 9mm" barrel is smaller in diameter so they flop around in the slide.

Factory 9mm barrel = .5710" or 14.49mm Factory 40 barrel = .5900" or 14.97mm |

Yes. I have a G33 and purchased a OEM G27 barrel for it. Now I have both a G33 & G27 for under $500(purchased the G33 in'98)

hmmm well it seems like all i need is the drop in barrel for the 357, but i think ill play it safe and try and find a complete G26 upper for the 9mm. thanks for the helps guys.
last question, i think. well the g27 40 mags also work fine for 357 or will i need to get g33 mags for those? |

The .40 and .357 magazines, for any given size of Glock, are dimensionally identical, but marked differently (some say .40, some say .357). |

It is not a good idea to try and use say, a factory sized G19(9mm) barrel in a G23(40) because the size difference wrecks havoc with the accuracy. |

took the glock to the range for the first time and was pleasently surprised. Muzzle flip and recoil were not bad at all and the damn thing is a easy pointer. point and shoot. gun is more accurate then i am right now. i ordered some pearce magazine/grip extender for it. should be good to go when i add night sites :P
very happy with my choice for a subcompact |
