Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Finish on wood?

I have two new polish laminate stock sets.  I want to put some sort of finish on them.  What finish is on the wood that is coming in with the kits?  Is it varnish, shellac, oil, other?  I want something that will look original but not darken the wood too much.

I used Tung Oil and it looked GREAT.
